Arrival at the airport. Breakfast followed by departure to the countryside. We are headed West, to the province of Arkhangai, known for its breathtaking landscapes, a region that offers unmatched beauty of horizons. Fatigue due to jet-lag and flight is to be expected. But once we reach the countryside, we will inevitably feel drawn to the steppe. Arrival at a monastery followed by a meditation and a hike in the surroundings. Dinner and first night on site, in the yurt. Accomodation during our trip will take place in form of a yurt camp, each yurt is equipped with 4 beds.
After a peaceful night in the chiseled rocks mount, we will head to the city of Karakorum, ancient capital of Mongolia. Visit of the Erdene Zuu monastery, the first buddhist monastery with fixed structure to be established in Mongolia. We will have the great pleasure to explore the local farmers market and the museum. We will hold our talking circle and introduce ourselves in the evening.
After a journey of approximately 3 hours, we will be welcomed by a nomad family in the splendid valley of hot springs. We will arrive at Tsenkheriin rashaan, a thermal water center with on-site amenities. In the middle of the steppes of central Mongolia, and a wonderful water source that has been neglected for a long time, with many hot springs of sulfured and sodic water reaching a temperature of 72°C, recommended for external treatment of rheuma, dermatosis and respiratory diseases. You will have the opportunity to enjoy a bath in the thermal springs. Dinners and nights in the yurt rented by the pastoralists. The comfort of the yurt will be basic, but great. Dinner with pastoralists.
We will have access to many panoramic views of the valley. The morning will be used to get to know the everyday life of the nomads in the steppes, followed by a short ride to the feet of the Khogno mounts covered with larch trees. Afternoon, slow ascension of 3 hours during an easy hike to access the Tuvkhni mounts and visit the Tuvkhni temple at the top. After the temple’s visit, we will get back to our car for a 20 kms ride. Night in the yurt rented by the pastoralists. Please note : 40 + 20 kms in a SUV type of car and mild uphill hike of about 3 hours in the afternoon. Night in the yurt rented by the nomads. Traditional Horhog dinner greatly prized by Mongols: lamb cooked with heated river pebbles, vegetables. You will once more appreciate the skills of our cooks!
During those five days, in the sacred place of a beautiful natural reserve, a tent in the middle of nowhere as sole accomodation, you will live/experiment the ceremonies, individual consultations and exercises. This will also be a sharing, learning and teaching time between the shamans.
Arrival at the lake of the migrating birds; rest and down time. Second bivouac, settled in the middle of the vast plains.
We will head East, towards the city. The landscape will change radically, letting place to the arid vegetation of the steppes surrounded by golden dunes on the horizon. Return to Ulaanbaatar to spend the evening around a dinner with the local team at the yurt camp. 260 kms in SUV. Warm lunch and dinner.
It will be difficult to return to the city after our time spent in the great outdoors.
